How often do you not happen to stumble on a unplayable file, missing codec and so on. Instead fo having to download /installing humongus codec packs (that often even introduce even worse computer problems) just to circumvent the problem you can adress the issue by examine the file and retrieving the missing codec. Just install Avicodec to analyze that file and then just google and download the specific codec. (http://avicodec.duby.info/)

Shrimp Revenge
After a continual ventilating of his apartment in the cold winter, a guy gave up and hired a local cleaning company to sanitize his apartment, since he suspected a rat had died behind his living room wall and the stench was unbearable. After a month of living with the foul smell he could not live in the apartment any longer and even the neighbors had started to complain. The company opened holes in two of the walls but found nothing there. After a thorough investigation they found that it was actually the curtain pole hanging over the windows that was the cause. When checking the pole they found it contained a large amount of rotting shrimps! Since "he" was to blame he was billed €7K for the cleaning and repairs of the walls. Even after the pole was taken away he could not live in the apartment while a ozone machine cleaned out the smells.
When analyzing the origin off the shrimps it strongly indicated some sort of timely connection with the separation of former girlfriend. We can only guess that this was her retribution for him cheating on her. Is not revenge wonderful.
Any of you readers that know any similar revenge stories? Please share... :)

Thoughts about "At last, a way to test time travel...
Thoughts about "At last, a way to test time travel" from issue 2552 of New Scientist magazine, 22 May 2006, page 34.
I think that the concept of time travel, or time relocation as I would like to phrase it, seems more viable then ever. I agree that it seems possible that physics theoretically seems to allow time relocation. But I believe th ere is a major important issue lacking discussion concerning the subject that need hi-lightning. To be able to prove the theory by experiment, we would have to relocate particles in the fourth dimension and measure them elsewhere. The big issue, no one seems to address, is that a experiment requires a incredibly stable testing environment in all other dimensions. Based on the theories that space time itself seems to be expanding and that our galaxy is speeding away from the location of the big bang, the place of measurement is extremely hard to calculate as we do not really know our movement vector in the other dimensions. A time traveler would very likely be sent to a empty place in space.

Some interesting ideas does however arise. Could extremely well measured particle relocation enlighten us on our present 3d vector in space? Could extremely well coordinated time traveling allow us to relocate ourselves in the 3d dimensions, without using any kinetic energy whatsoever?(only from or against our current travelling vector) Mind boggling indeed.

Network Market Segment Outlook 2006
3com
Looks like 3com is heading in the right direction pushed by the allience with the chinese network brand Huawei. Their XRN technology really makes thing intresting. Will be intresting to see how Cisco will respond.
XRN behaves as a plug-and-play rapid spanning tree configuration. Instead of manually having to set up different Vlan on each redundant link or using something like Cisco flexlink the protoocol send each client-server tcp/ip session on the link that has the most bandwith availble right now. And opposed to Cisco RSTP it is increadibly easy to configure. Quite a nobrainer.
I´d say that the biggest reason not to invest in 3com right now is that they are having problem with the support and logistics. Their enterprise network organisation and staff are also quite new in the clothing. The last issue is the juridical issue with Cisco that needs to be resorted. Until then I'd say that even though XRN is really cool, 3com's organisation really need to shapen up.
My Advice: Dont buy. Cisco still leads.

Mathematics Euforic
Math math math... in a sudden flash during a deep discussion with a friend who teaches 3d at a local collage I realized that I really don’t have a clue how a 3d-engine really works. I had knowledge of the basic concept, but not about the finest details that really makes it work. So now I got this weird obsessive idea to force myself to completely understand how a 3d engine actually works... so now after a few days of looking into the matter I find myself buried in books... my investigation show that the problem in understanding does not lie in programming rather in math’s. So its not just enough reading about the 3d techniques alone, but you also have to get down to the math behind the scene. Now I have spent three days in my old collage math books and there is no light at the tunnel... When I realized how much of the engine that is pure math I decided to completely understand that part first and then head back to the programming.
